“Zum Raum wird hier die Zeit. Here, time becomes space.” Parsifal – Wagner

The Parisian Scenes offer a reinterpretation of images from the past through the technique of montage. Employing the allegorical device of Baudelairean poetry and Benjamin's dialectical image, this film attempts to dismantle the myth of historical continuity propagated by the ideology of progress.

“An image is that in which the Past meets the Now in a flash to form a constellation.” Walter Benjamin

The film 'Parisian Scenes' composes a mosaic of unrelated ideas and images, creating lines of force stretched to their maximum to bring forth an image of the present moment, or constellation.

The composition of these lines of force is akin to scientific experimentation.

Like a chemist working with the elements of the periodic table, he experiments with juxtaposing images and sounds that are disparate in subject matter. Chemically reacting the film is to decompose the history of the victors.
